Knyla Harris 50/50 Project

Sometimes, someone comes into your life, and you have no idea just how special they’ll become. For me, that person is Knyla. We met online in a group we both followed and quickly discovered we were from the same area—what a wild realization in a community of over 10,000 people from around the world!

We started chatting, and before long, we set up a time to meet in person. We shared a love for photography, and that connection quickly grew into a meaningful friendship. Knyla often calls me her mentor, but I’m not sure she fully realizes how much she brings into my life as well.

She’s been with her husband Roy for 36 years and married for 33. Together, they’ve raised three children and are now proud grandparents to five.

Knyla is a hard worker and a true entrepreneur. She started her first job at Hardee’s at just 16, ran her own hair salon for over a decade, then transitioned into a successful cake business for another 10 years. It was while photographing her cakes for wedding clients that she discovered her passion for photography—and she’s now been a photographer for 12 years.

In addition to all that, Knyla is also a Pastor. She and her husband have been faithfully leading their congregation for the past 21 years.

Most recently, at 55 years old, she went back to school—and is now graduating with honors, earning her Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design, Cum Laude.
